True Belonging

Oscar Wilde once said “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” When we are able to share ourselves in healthy ways that reflect self-understanding and responsibility, then we are being our authentic selves. And that ability to be seen and be vulnerable is also what allows us to be part of something, to belong to something. When that happens, we come to know that we are not alone.

Rev. Dr. Sandra Fees is a retired Unitarian Universalist minister and author, who served congregations in Berks County and Harrisburg, PA, and was the poet laureate of Berks County from 2016-2018. She is a graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary and has published poetry and a collection of sermons. She offers this sermon through the Soul Matters ministry service.
