Caregiving and Advocacy
Terri Reese

I will be sharing my personal journey as both a caregiver and an advocate, raising a daughter navigating mental health challenges while also supporting my mother through dementia. This talk will explore the realities of balancing these roles—the emotional weight, the resilience it requires, and the lessons learned along the way. I’ll speak about the importance of advocacy within our healthcare systems, finding your voice when it feels overwhelming, and building a support network rooted in compassion and community. Above all, I hope to offer honesty, encouragement, and practical insight for anyone walking a similar path or supporting someone who is.

Terri Reese is a lifelong South Jersey resident, a single mother, a public servant, and a blue-collar activist devoted to improving life for working families.

When her mother developed dementia, she gave up a 30-year career in retail management to become her full-time caregiver for five years. After her mother’s passing, Terri answered the call to public service, joining New Jersey’s Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and is currently running in the Democratic primary for the 2nd Congressional District in NJ.
