Stoic Nonsense: Make Things 1% Funner
Presented by Heather Swenson-Brilla

Epictetus was great, and Marcus Aurelius was inspiring; when life handed them lemons, they told us to make lemonade. BUT, what if there’s something funner? What can we control in a world that makes no sense? Make it make even less sense, in the best way.

Heather Swenson Brilla has been a member of this congregation since 2019 and currently serves as the secretary of the Board of Trustees. She has a job at Stockton with an absurdly long title where she gets to bring communities together and use the resources of the college to the benefit of South Jersey. She is the Cubmaster of Pack 634, the producer for Playa del Fuego, a regional Burning Man event, adjunct faculty in the Sociology program at Stockton, and just earned her PhD in Community Engagement. Taken together this means that she devotes most of her time to figuring out how people get along (or don’t) and how interconnectedness makes communities stronger and people healthier.
