The Spirit of Peace: Peace Pilgrim’s Life and Legacy
Bruce Nichols

This service will offer a short bio and overview of Peace Pilgrim’s message and pilgrimage and share about how her message of Peace continues to inspire people around the world today.

Bio: Bruce Nichols was first introduced to Peace Pilgrim over thirty years ago through her “”Steps Toward Inner Peace”” booklet. Inspired and motivated, he reached out to Friends of Peace Pilgrim and quickly acquired and read all the available materials about her. In 1996 Bruce created the first Peace Pilgrim website, which continues today in an updated version. Bruce met Peace Pilgrim’s sister Helen Young in 1999 and continued a close friendship till her death. Later the same year Bruce joined the Board of Friends of Peace Pilgrim. He has been at all of the Peace Pilgrim celebrations in Egg Harbor City and is one of the organizers, along with Barbara Reynolds, of the Peace Pilgrim Appalachian Trail Retreats. Bruce is also on the board of his local land trust in Connecticut, is an ordained Dharma Teacher in the Plum Village tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, and on the board of MorningSun Community, a residential and meditation retreat center in Southern New Hampshire. This is Bruce’s second time presenting at UUCSJS.
