Halloween Read and Treat® at the Galloway Township Trunk or Treat!

“A treat for the mind as well as the sweet tooth!” is the motto of Halloween Read and Treat®, a program that’s coming to Galloway this year.

You are invited to enhance your kids’ trunk-or-treating with UUCSJS’s Halloween book giveaway, October 24, 2026 1-3pm at the Galloway Municipal Complex. Volunteers are needed to collect and sort books as well as staff the trunk during the event.

Inspired by research showing that growing up with more books in their home increases a person’s literacy and educational achievement, Free Books for Kids Town of Warren, Pa., is taking their Halloween book giveaway program nationwide. Founder and Director Ruby Wiles says, “It’s hard to imagine how many kids grow up without a single book in their home, but it’s real. What kind of future lies ahead for them?” She notes that the neediest kids are out trick-or-treating on Halloween, and they can be overjoyed to have a book that actually belongs to them. “Giving away books on Halloween is so rewarding, and we want to share our experience. We are thrilled that UUCSJS is helping the children of the Galloway Township community have a brighter future!”
