COVID-19 Alert

Greetings to all,

This is to let you know that at least two people who attended the December 24 Christmas Eve service have become ill and tested positive for COVID-19.

The recommendations of UUCSJS Covid Response Team member and physician Melissa Hutchison are as follows:

  • If you attended the service that evening, we are recommending that you quarantine for at least one week to prevent further spread of the virus.
  • If you experience symptoms of Covid infection (fever, headache, body aches, trouble breathing, congestion) contact your primary care physician as soon as possible or go to an urgent care clinic for testing and treatment.
  • If you remain symptom-free for a week, you are likely not infected and may resume regular activities, observing proper protocols including social distancing and wearing a protective mask.

Volunteers are reaching out to the people who signed the health pledge at the door the night of the service to let them know of the situation and advise them of the committee’s recommendations. The people who fell ill after the Christmas eve service seem to be recovering well, but we will be cancelling the January 2 worship service as a precaution.

Please keep yourself safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone again at worship on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

Blessings of the Season to all,

Rev. Dawn Fortune
